Marvin W. Masters graduated in civil engineering and law from West Virginia University. He is admitted to practice in both state and federal courts in West Virginia, the West Virginia Supreme Court, and United States Supreme Court. He is listed in the Martindale-Hubbell® Preeminent Lawyers association as well as Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America, Million Dollar Advocates Forum, and other societies. He is the former president of the West Virginia Association for Justice and a member of the International Society of Primerus Law Firms. Mr. Masters has more than 30 years experience as a trial attorney and has litigated more than 100 jury trials involving personal injury, fraud, product liability, medical negligence, pharmaceutical injury, and other civil cases.
Christopher L. Brinkley practices in the areas of product liability and personal injury litigation, as well as enforcement of foreign judgments and consumer class actions. The majority of Mr. Brinkley's practice involves representing victims of automotive defects.
Mr. Brinkley received his bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Oklahoma and his law degree from the University of Tulsa. He is admitted to the state bars of West Virginia, Missouri, Georgia, and Arkansas, as well as numerous federal courts, and has been admitted pro hac vice in many other jurisdictions. Mr. Brinkley is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, the West Virginia and Georgia Trial Lawyers Associations, Public Justice, and the American Association for Justice, in which he has chaired two separate litigation groups. He is also a frequent speaker and author on the topics of engineering and product liability litigation.
April D. Ferrebee was born in Ohio in 1973 and grew up in rural Clay County, West Virginia. Ms. Ferrebee graduated with honors from Marshall University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice and political science. Ms. Ferrebee attended the West Virginia University College of Law from 1996-1999 where she earned a Juris Doctorate degree.
Ms. Ferrebee is a member of the West Virginia State Bar and is admitted to the West Virginia Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Ms. Ferrebee is a member of the West Virginia Association for Justice and The American Association for Justice.
Since being admitted to the West Virginia State Bar in 1999, Ms. Ferrebee has enjoyed a diverse practice. Ms. Ferrebee joined The Masters Law Firm in 2002 and since that time has practiced primarily in the areas of personal injury and civil litigation. She has experience in representing individuals who have been injured by defective products, construction defects, motor vehicles, pharmaceuticals, and job injuries. She also represents individuals who have been wronged by insurance bad faith and illegal employment practices.
Charles M. Love, IV, earned a Juris Doctorate from the West Virginia University College of Law in 1997. While at the College of Law he was a member of the Luger Trial Association. In 1993, Mr. Love earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and French, cum laude, from Denison University.
Mr. Love has been a member of The Masters Law Firm since 1997. He has extensive trial experience and focuses his practice in the areas of nursing home abuse and neglect, product liability, injuries in the workplace, commercial truck accidents, medical malpractice, wrongful termination, and premises liability.
A member of the West Virginia State Bar, Mr. Love is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court for the United States of America, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and in the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia.
He is a member of the West Virginia Bar Association and the West Virginia Association for Justice. Mr. Love was elected to serve as one of the Kanawha County representatives to the Board of Governors for the West Virginia Bar Association. He is currently serving a term that ends in 2008. Mr. Love has also served various charitable organizations in the Charleston, West Virginia area.
Richard A. Monahan was born and raised near Altoona, Pennsylvania. In 1987, he graduated from Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors (cum laude). He then attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Law from which he graduated with a Juris Doctorate degree in 1990. Immediately upon graduating from law school, he moved to West Virginia, where he was a judicial law clerk with the late Honorable Elizabeth V. Hallanan, United States District Judge for the Southern District of West Virginia. Upon completing a three-year clerkship, Mr. Monahan joined Masters & Taylor, Attorneys at Law, now known as The Masters Law Firm.
Mr. Monahan has experience litigating a wide variety of cases involving claims of negligence, product liability, auto accidents, medical malpractice, breach of contract, fraud, wrongful discharge, deliberate intent/workplace injuries, and antitrust violations. He has experience working on class actions as well as cases brought on behalf of individuals and businesses. In addition to handling hearings and trials, he is also well respected for research and writing at both the trial and appellate levels.
Mr. Monahan is admitted to both the West Virginia and Pennsylvania State Bars. He is a member of the West Virginia Association for Justice, the American Association for Justice, and the International Society of Primerus Law Firms.
Robert P. Welsh, also known as Bob, practices in the areas of medical malpractice and personal injury litigation. He has extensive experience in litigating complex medical negligence cases involving physicians, hospitals, and other health care providers, and has tried more than forty of these cases to juries throughout West Virginia.
Mr. Welsh, who is a native of Wheeling, West Virginia, did his undergraduate training in psychology at West Liberty State College, located in the northern panhandle. Subsequently, he worked for several years in the Wheeling and Pittsburgh areas as a Nationally Registered Paramedic, providing direct patient care in the pre-hospital and emergency department settings. After undertaking significant course work in nursing at Wheeling Jesuit University, he went on to graduate from the West Virginia University College of Law.
Mr. Welsh is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of both West Virginia and Pennsylvania, and is a member of the state bar associations of both jurisdictions. He is also a member of the West Virginia Association for Justice.
David L. White is a graduate of Marshall University and the Ohio Northern University College of Law. He is a member of the Kanawha County, West Virginia, and American Bar Associations. He has 25 years of experience both in the state and federal courts of West Virginia. He served two years as a law clerk in federal district court in Southern West Virginia.
Mr. White has tried more than 100 jury trials to verdict. He was part of the legal team which obtained a $10 million verdict in TXO Prod. Corp. v. Alliance Resources Corp., 187 W.Va. 457, 419 S.E.2d 870 (1992), aff’d, 509 U.S. 443, 113 S.Ct. 2711, 125 L.Ed. 366 (1993). The United States Supreme Court decision in that case was the seminal authority on punitive damages in the United States at that time. More recently, Mr. White has obtained jury verdicts and settlements in tort cases throughout Southern West Virginia, and has won acquittals in a number of criminal cases.
